from mother to daughter to me
From mother to daughter to me, 2020
Three generations come together here, each standing for themselves, while simultaneously engaging in conversation with one another about womanhood, in all its shapes and shifts. The face is Albertine, the grandmother; visible through documents of elegance, neatness and warmth. The voice is Katharina, the mother; questioning the urge to be nurturing through journal entries. The mirror is mine. Offering reflections on the generations before me, on the nuances of womanhood; the softness, the powerfulness, and the tension between them that I experience, although, they are not opposites but two poles of the same source.
